RAIN AGAIN
Yet another rainy day in Ottawa.  The only good thing is that I've managed to get a lot of stuff done. I think I have about 5 projects on the go right now.  Keeps me busy!!
I can't believe it's Friday already tomorrow.  I love the weekends because Marty's home and I get a little bit of a break from being on mommy duty 24/7.  I'm hoping we will have some nice fall weather this weekend, that would be nice.  Next weekend is my birthday and all I want to do is go pick apples at an orchard and hit up "Third World Bazaar".  If you don't know about this place, it's in Manotick, just outside of Ottawa.  Very cool place.  It's this country barn type building and it's a great place to start your Christmas shopping.  People travel the world all year long and buy lots of great things like home decor, clothing, jewellery and so on.  They then have a 7 week sale in this barn and sell it for great prices.  It's a really great concept and a good place to get a unique gift for someone.  Anyways check out the website www.ThirdWorldBazaar.ca

Well happy Friday tomorrow!!! Gotta go out in the rain to pick up the hubby.

BABY PORTRAITS
I recently finished a pencil sketch of my baby Willow.  I then decided to start one of her little buddy Ruth, however Ruth is not quite finished.  I love drawing portraits and even once considered being a sketch artist for the police. I then found out that sketch artists mainly work on contract and are mostly used in murder trials.  I guess I figured I couldn't make a career out of that.

If anyone wants a sketch done, let me know!!
LOLOS PETALS

As some of you may or may not know, I recently had a precious baby girl.  We decided to name her Willow Mae, simply because we loved the name and my husband and I got married under a beautiful willow tree last summer.  That being said, every since she was born I have felt that she has been an inspiration to me in many ways.  One being my creativity.  I guess I felt for a long time that I didn't have a subject matter.  Now all I want to do is take photos of her, draw her, and make really cute things for her.

I've been wanting for a really really long time to start some sort of business.  I've never really been able to narrow it down to what exactly.  I have so many interests and I can't seem to pick just one.  Long story short, I want to start trying to sell some of my stuff online.  So I've been racking my brain for a company name.

Last night, little Willow was playing on her play mat and I heard her start fussing.  I went into the living room to discover her with a little plastic doughnut type toy on her face that she was attempting to chew on.  Don't ask me how she got it there, but she did.  It was definitely picture worthy.  So of course I took the most perfect picture of it.  It looked like if I were to put petals around her head she would look exactly like a flower.  A few minutes later, my husband was talking about something out of a Christmas movie involving the word "petals".  Oh and I should mention that my nickname for my little Willow is "Lolo".  Right then and there it hit me..."Lolos Petals".  I quickly opened up Photoshop this morning and got straight to work on a logo and banner design.  Here it is!!!

Keep your eye open for my designs....coming soon!!  My main focus will be baby/kid products, but I'm always working on something else that's not always for the little ones.

A little color can go a long way

We recently painted our living room
and I just love it.  It was starting to get really beige and black in this house and I really thought it needed  a punch of color.  It feels so much cozier and really adds a lot to the room.  Everyone knows how much I love to decorate.  Here are a few photos of the new living room colors.  Who knew that i would enjoy purple, or a shade of purple.

COMFORT FOOD
I just felt the need to write about the most delicious meal ever that my husband makes.  I love it when he cooks, because it's a nice little break for me.  Don't get me wrong, I love cooking and great food.  We've made this recipe several times over the last month and I honestly don't think that we breathe while eating it.  It's very simple, but has that expensive meal kind of look to it.  What better combo then salmon, bacon and cheese!!!  Top it off with a bottle of red wine and that's the perfect meal, in my opinion.  YUMMY!!!
I also find that Fall is definitely when I start cooking a lot more, so I'm excited that it is that time of year again.  Looking forward to making some great soups!!

BUSTED OUT THE KENMORE

Yay, I'm so excited!!  I've finally gotten the sewing machine out and running.  It's been packed away for about four years now.  I actually remembered how to use it and now I'm on a mission.  Now if only Willow would co-operate, she's a cranky pants right now.  She's got a full belly, clean diaper and is just about sitting on my lap with toys and soother in hand.  What else could she possible want!!?

Happy Birthday to me!!
My wonderful husband bought me one of these cute little things for my birthday tonight. I know it's not until next weekend, but we couldn't wait any longer.  We've been eyeing them for the past month.

I've been wanting a notebook so that I am able to mainly use it in the kitchen.  I am forever running back and forth from the living room to the kitchen looking at recipes on our laptop.  I wanted something compact that I could simply take with me.  It's also great for my crafting and now blogging :)  So far I like it, however the little keyboard is taking some getting used to.

Thanks babe!!!
MONDAY MORNING...AND IT'S RAINING :(

Well it's very obvious that winter is just around the corner.  However my favorite time of the year is right before that.  I just love October, for many reasons...it's my birthday, thanksgiving and I in general just love the feeling of the crisp air outside, the colors of fall, the smells and just being able to wear a hoodie!!
Spent the weekend inside and at home for the first time since Willow was born three and a half months ago.  I cannot believe she is almost four months old already.  That being said, I had a lot of time to be crafty.  Unfortunately I cannot really post any of the projects I am finished or I am working on because they are all gifts and someone might catch a peek at one of there's.  My brother in law inspired me a few weeks back that I make all of my Christmas gifts this year.  So guess what...you're all getting homemade gifts.
Anyways, I've been surrounded by felt all weekend and now it's time to tidy up my mess.

PUNK ROCK BOOTIES
I've never been one to like cutesie little teddy bear clothes for babies.  I actually really enjoy taking the time to make my little girl look some what fashionable, for a baby.  It's just fun for me!
I decided to make her a pair of felt booties and what better then punk rock baby booties.  Check these little guys out!!  It definitely wasn't easy cutting out those mini skull and crossbones.  Anyways, they turned out great and they look awesome on her.  I can tell she    likes them ;)

BABY MOBILE
Firstly I would like to say, oh how I love rainy days, maternity leave and a bowl of delicious homemade asian soup.  So I also decided to make a cute little mobile for my friends new baby Sienna.  We met her on the weekend, very sweet!!  As much as I'm not a huge fan of pink...I guess every little girl needs a touch of pink in there lives.
This was an idea I found on another crafter's blog.  It is made simply of felt, yarn, thread and two embroidery hoops.  Some what time consuming, but a good project for a rainy day like today.
Enjoy!
Stay tuned for some ridiculously adorable punk rock booties I made my little Willow.  They are almost done.

BABY BOOTIES
Since having my baby girl in June, I've been finding it almost impossible to find things small enough for her.  Such as hats, socks, and mitts.  She's starting to fill out now, so it's getting much easier.  My friends had a baby girl on Monday, so I decided to make them some little baby booties. They are made from felt, with a little faux leather insole.  Pretty neat that you can make them out of felt!!  They turned out super small and pretty cute.  I did try them on my little Willow and they fit pretty snugly.  I guess I will have to make her some bigger ones.  Here are a few photos of the booties.

ITTIE BITTIE BABY MITTIES

I've been searching everyone for a pair a tiny mitts for my baby girl.  I have yet to find anything to fit her tiny hands, that doesn't cost $35!!  Give me a break, that's simply ridiculous.  I don't even pay that much money for mitts that fit my hands.  So I bought her a cute little hat and decided to knit her some simple little mitts to match.  Here they are and the pattern is extremely easy.

Cast on 20 stitches (circular needles)
K1 P1 across, continue this pattern for 10 rows
Knit the entire next row and continue in stockinette stitch for 8 rows
On the next knit row, K2, K 2 together the whole way across
Purl a row
K1, K2 together the whole way across
Purl a row
K2 together the whole row
Leave a long piece of yarn at the end and sew                     mittens up the sides.  (these are thumbless by the way)

THE LEFEBVRES
So I figured I would add a few more things that I've been working on lately.  Kind of just trying to get the hang of the blogging stuff.  I designed this poster last year for my husband and I's wedding.  It was on an easel outside of the entrance to our reception.  We had photo's taken for our engagement, so I used one of the photo's to create this poster.  We are both big Beatles fans, so I designed it with them in mind.  I finally had it framed a few weeks ago and it is now hanging our newly renovated living room wall.  We are loving the "purple" wall!!!
Inspired by Andy Warhol
Hello everyone, and thanks for checking out my new blog.  I've been feeling crafty lately and seemed to have found some time to get a lot of projects done.  Here is a project that I've been working on over the last week, and I'm very happy with how they turned out.  My husband Marty, my daughter Willow and I recently went to the National Art Gallery here in Ottawa to see the Pop exhibition that was on display.  There was an entire room of all original Andy Warhol.  It was very wonderful to have seen it and it inspired me to do this project.  I took some family photos and "Andy Warholified" them in Photoshop and then printed them on photo paper.  I've collaged them on hard cork place mats and then sprayed them with a polyurethane spray.  They turned out quite cool.  Here are a few photos of them.  Enjoy!!!
